If I have been told I carry herpes antibodies in my blood, should I date only people with herpes?
There is a risk of spreading it to someone else, yes. However, the risk significantly reduces with the the use of a condom in conjunction with suppressive medication. I know folks who have herpes, and have slept with people who do not have the virus, and they have have not spread it. If you have an outbreak, refrain from having sex because obviously the chances of you spreading it are probably at 100%... Even if you do not have visible signs, you can be asymptomatic which means you don't get an outbreak but you may be shedding the virus on a microscopic level.
